I bought myself a blackwatch schoolboy blazer from Anthropologie. I have always wanted a blackwatch schoolboy blazer. It is a “shrunken” fit, and is probably a size or two too small. But I love it. I am blinded by the blackwatch and I do not care how it fits. And I am wearing it out on this 50 degree January day in Chicago.

My parents are not culturally lame. They are with it; they always have been. While the hipsters are just catching on to the adventures in Baltimore, my father was watching The Wire as it aired on HBO. He was the first and only person I knew touting the soon to be (re)discovered television treasure. They used to send me a VHS of the newly aired Six Feet Under while I was away at college. I...

A Chicago Christmas
Andrew and I are staying in Chicago for Christmas, and we could not be more thrilled. We have been in Chicago, and for the past two years we have traveled i.e. suffered in airports due to inclimate weather. Ironically, this year, the year we choose to not travel, has been the most mild December in recent history. Aside from travel, our jobs don’t really allow us to travel in any...

Today, I am 27.
Every time I have a birthday, I am reminded of how long I’ve been with Andrew. It doesn’t happen to me on our anniversary, but it happens on each birthday. I don’t know what happens when I tell someone that I am getting to know that I’ve been with Andrew for six and a half years, but there is always a disconnect. Usually (because I am so fresh faced), they ask exactly, how...

true love.
Andrew went home for the weekend and brought back Pizza Sola for me. There is no better pizza, period. Even if it was made in Pittsburgh and carried all the way back to Chicago. This is why we’re in love.

Some days I just like to sit on the train and listen to my watch tick.

I realize i’m late on this one, but I am addicted to Angry Birds. So when we’re out or if we are having a conversation, just know, that I am only thinking about Angry Birds and when I can play it.

Earlier this morning, I spilled about two cups of rice on the kitchen floor. And a new cat toy was born.

I live in Albany Park and therefore am forced to go to the Ravenswood Post Office at Lawrence and Campbell. Avoid this Post Office and zip code at all costs. It is the worst post office in the city of Chicago; there is documentation. And I love that it is on Yelp—who rates a post office?! I use Yelp for choosing restaurants and small businesses; you can’t choose to not patronize a...

childhood
There are more than a few things that I am totally unaware of when it comes to childhood memories. Since my parents didn’t really cook, most of them are food related. Additionally, they leave Andrew speechless when it is revealed that I am utterly clueless. His upbringing included A Charlie Brown Christmas, Chef Boyardee, Kraft macaroni and cheese, and an occasional evening at a...

new england
A sunset from Grammy’s porch; our first night on the lake.
Taking pictures from a speeding car, listening to Buddy Holly. One of the best ways to see New England.

We started our trip in Philadelphia, Pa. I was a bridesmaid in my best friend’s wedding at the Downtown Club off Washington Square in the city. It was a lovely wedding. We had quick trip, but that is not to say that we didn’t accomplish goals. Before the hair appointments and wedding rehearsals, Andrew and I snuck down to South Philly and wandered through the Italian Market. I ate...
I have neglected this blog for far too long. Let’s say we make up for lost time.
I am currently sitting on a tiny plane in Manchester, New Hampshire waiting to fly back home to Chicago. We had a fan-fan-fan-fantastic time in New England, and I can’t wait to share some of our adventures.

There are days (and this is certainly one of them) when it is too hot to move. Andrew says it’s a good thing I work in a grocery store.

Why is it assumed that English majors are better writers than the rest of us? Or that they have better grammar? Did you study grammar in college? I didn’t think so.
Andrew and I have this gripe with the world as Art History/ History majors and Philosophy minors.

The other day, I ran into a former colleague at the Chicago History Museum. He worked as the staff photographer, documenting museum events and such, and in April 2010 he was fired. He said, CHM fired about 15 people in April because they had made some bad investments and couldn’t afford to keep employees. He just went into work like any other day, and later he was fired. He had been at...
